Saxophonist Ori Kaplan, formerly of Gypsy punk band and
fellow Lolla performers Gogol Bordello, and drummer Tamir Muskat, formerly of
indie rockers Firewater, met in their teens in Brooklyn. The two dreamed of
bringing people together by bridging various cultures’ traditional music with
modern styles.
After officially adding MC Tomer Yosef in 2006, the band’s style expanded further with clear dub, hip-hop and Gypsy punk influences, creating a large, eclectic sound represented on 2007’s Nu Med and 2010’s Blue Eyed Black Boy.

for sure, this will be a good show
Andy Boyd , about 1 year agoSo I never knew about Balkan Beat Box until I saw they were in the line up and wanted to check them out. What got me interested was their name since my family came here from the Balkans. I can really hear the trubaci typa sound they have infused in their music which I LOVE. So I am really excited about seeing them. I also find it sincere that they're not from the Balkans, yet are interested in the music styling. See you August 6th. :]
