Saxophonist Ori Kaplan, formerly of Gypsy punk band and
fellow Lolla performers Gogol Bordello, and drummer Tamir Muskat, formerly of
indie rockers Firewater, met in their teens in Brooklyn. The two dreamed of
bringing people together by bridging various cultures’ traditional music with
modern styles.
After officially adding MC Tomer Yosef in 2006, the band’s style
expanded further with clear dub, hip-hop and Gypsy punk influences, creating a
large, eclectic sound represented on 2007’s Nu
Med and 2010’s Blue Eyed Black Boy.
