Fronted by savvy singer-songwriter Martina Sorbara, Dragonette dishes out quirky electro-pop in the vein of similarly edgy, lady-led bands like No Doubt, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Peaches. After exploring a tamer solo career and releasing the album The Cure for Bad Deeds in 2002, Sorbara joined her husband, bassist Dan Kurtz, and drummer Joel Stouffer to form Dragonette.
They found themselves opening for synth-heroes New Order on their second live show. They caught the attention of Mercury Records, which signed the band in 2006 and released the infectious single, “I Get Around,” in 2007. Their debut album, Galore, also dropped in 2007, followed by the retro-rocking Fixin to Thrill last year.
