Luke Steele is the Australian electronic sound of Empire of the Sun, who wanted to make music that was “something otherworldly and special.” The band’s 2008 debut album, Walking On a Dream, and the title track reached the top 10 on Australia's singles chart.

Empire of the Sun’s style has been described as Ziggy Stardust meets The Chronicles of Narnia, played out in it's own alternate universe. Empire of the Sun was also featured on the BBC’s Sound of 2009 list, which showcases artists on the rise. With a flair for dramatics and a sound like Neon Indian’s, expect Empire of the Sun to keep heating up.

I agree with jgould weather to c Phoenix, Green day or empire of the sun. They are all great bands. Lollapalooza really messed up by having them all perform at the same time!

@mattlafrents: I would like to know this too. If they are not doing an actual performance I rather go and see Phoenix.

Melilod. Thanks for that link. That stage is awesome. WOW! THat would be amazing if they did that here. Someone referenced this being their first performance in the US. You would think they'd want to go all out. There's such a strong following here for them.. it would only put them deeper into our American music psyche. Hope they change their mind.

Thats going to be tough to decide between Greenday Phoenix and Empire of the sun

jgould , about 1 year ago

it says full live band so how does that work out..?

Catherine Sophia Clark , about 1 year ago

this performance might be like how Perry Farell performance was last year @ThePerrys stage, it was of course Perry and like 7 other people with instruments, so basically EOTS is getin a whole band to play with them

Petroster , about 1 year ago

I really, really want to see them. (oh and Stephen!)

I think it's going to be SIIIIIICK! IT'S EMPIRE OF THE SUN! They're for sure going to be keeping it real. Spinning will be tight too considering all of the competition for a perfect remix (EOTS beats are that good!) The best I've heard so far is the Shapeshifter's Remix to Walking On A Dream. Digitalism is nasty as well. Check out Echoes or Night Fall.

Damn, that would have been sweet to have a full performance, but i'll take a dj set. This will be amazing

mattlafrentz , about 1 year ago

This is Amazing! Spinning or not...

Mackenzie Wellman , about 1 year ago

They're "Spinning at Perrys" so it's a DJ set. No full live set. Cheaper way to go. Kinda sucks since it will be their first time in the US and it's gonna be a dj set. Even has it listed as "spinning" on their myspace page

An extremely valid comment above. Anyone know what's up? Their live performance at Parklife last year was held on a full stage at looked beautiful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_ja0-lHgE8

So, will they just be DJ'ing or will this be an Empire of the Sun performance?
