The members of Green Day would be the first to admit they never expected to become pop-punk elder statesmen. Like their East Coast compatriots, the Beastie Boys, the trio of Cali kids in Green Day started out as snot-nosed brats sneering three-chords-and-an-attitude songs, but unlike the Beasties' party anthems, Green Day's work had a tuneful accessibility--and glimmers of substance--from the get-go. Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool could harmonize and play their instruments, and Armstrong proved capable of writing not only slacker anthems like "Basket Case," but gorgeous masterpieces like their massive crossover hit, "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)."
Their major-label debut, Dookie, went 10 times platinum in the U.S. alone, and laid the foundation for Insomniac, Nimrod and Warning. But by 2004, Green Day seemed like an anachronism--till the band released American Idiot, a powerful, political rock opera (a form they just about single-handedly saved from extinction) that earned them a Grammy for Best Rock Album. They kept the rock-opera format--and hit another home-run--with Idiot's equally political 2009 follow-up, the Butch Vig-produced 21st Century Breakdown, which earned them their second Best Rock Album Grammy. They've since turned Idiot into a bona-fide rock opera--a musical that broke attendance records during its debut run at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre. It opens on Broadway April 20. Next up is the June release of the video game Green Day: Rock Band.

After you have selected your wedding party attire hang it inside bag it arrives in and don't display it to everybody. Give company a thing to start looking forward to once they see you for your initial time walking along the aisle. And unless it is really unavoidable, don't allow your potential husband see your attire whatsoever prior to the wedding. They say it's poor luck as well as if that's merely a superstition, it definitely does spoil his surprise!cissp pdf//exin itil questions//icnd prep//jncia prep//jncis pdf//linux+ questions//mcdba questions//mcitp questions//

Erwin Frei're Pium Pi'um , about 1 year agoHi, I love Green Day and I'm from Chile, i was lucky and I had the oportunity to see them Live the past October 24th. I wanted to say Thank You for bringing Lollapalooza to Chile, it really means a lot to us, the rock lovers. I think I represent every Green Day Chilean fan by saying we want them to play in Lollapalooza 2011... please, we need them, and they will make this festival so much better. I hope that you consider this :) Xo.

SOCOJO , about 1 year agoHaha a bunch of stupid idiots who don't like green day because they don't suck shit and play crappy music and scream into a microphone for a bunch of self-glorified "bros". Grow the fuck up and stop acting like punk has any integrity. Punk rock was created to make money, it has existed and thrived for that reason. Regardless, stop acting like you're in highschool. If it's good music that you like, then enjoy it. If you don't like it, fuck off. If you think you are a better than someone else because of the music you listen to, you're a fucking nimrod and so hilariously boring that you should probably just stop existing.

angelpadilla802 , about 1 year agoIf you start a sentence with "OMG" then you're too young too be at a Green Day concert. IMHO, you should go find a nice Jonas Brothers show for you and your BFF.
michelle420 , about 1 year agoheyyy FUCK green day! there are no excuses or explanations. hannah montana, twilight, green day, the hills, jonas brothers. it's all bad but bullshit is what sells in america so lolla knows how to make their money! but what is hopeful is that phoenix is gonna own the night judging by the fan base!! hell yes keep it up
Alexandra , about 1 year agoOMG I LOVE GREEN DAY. I've listened to them since i was five and my brother showed me them and i still love them. I heard on the radio that they were gonna be paying and then i knew I had to go. I've seen some of there concerts on T.V but never in person they are going to be the best at Lollapalooza. And for all you guys bashing them back of they are going to be awesome and way better than all the stupid bands you like. So I'm proud to say I'm a Green Day fan. plus every single song on my iPod is Green Day.
calebpapay80 , about 1 year agoShhhhhh. let the haters hate, that'll leave more room for us in the pit!
Luanne Iwan , about 1 year agoheres what the rolling stone said about greenday this summer: Expect lots of pyro and fan participation – but fewer tunes from 21st Century Breakdown – on this summer tour, says drummer Tré Cool. One highlight? Headlining Lollapalooza. "When we played Lolla in 1994," Cool says, "we were openers."
musichippiemanic , about 1 year agoGreen Day isn't a sale out!! There are several punk bands that signed to major labels before Green Day did, any they never caught as much of a shit storm as Green Day has. The Clash (signed to CBS), The Sex Pistols (signed to EMI), Social Distortion (Epic), and I could go on. Green Day has to work for a living just like the rest of us. If you weren't born with a silver spoon in your mouth you have to work for a living in this world if you want to survive, but if you love what you do it will never feel like work. Fortunately, for Green Day they have special talents that most of us do not possess. They were able to do what they loved and are damn great at. Green Day was able to make that their work and call it what ever it is work and they work damn hard at it and awesome at what they do. I really don't know that many great bands that wouldn't signed when made an offered like Green Day got. They got to play their music their way. If anyone came to them to sign with a major label but the condition would be that they had to do it the labels way, Green Day would have told them in no uncertain terms to go to hell. Actually they did basically that many times when they were approached by several other major labels before they signed with Reprise. Green Day wanted to get their music out there for the whole world to hear. It has always been about the music to them. If it was about the money they could have quit a long time ago. Because I am sure they have enough money to live more than comfortably for the rest of their lives if money was all it was.Another topic that is like finger nails down a chalk board is that Green Day isn't the same band as they were before in what was called the "Dookie Era" and that is bullshit. They are the same band they have always been! All of Green Day's music has their unmistakable sound. When I listen to their earlier work and their most recent work and I know in a heartbeat that it was the same band. The topics may have changed but the music is the same to me. Topics change with age and our surroundings. When they were young they sang about masturbation, tell your parents and other authority figures to screw off and go to hell ( they still tell some authority figures where they can go in their recent released music), and other topics along those lines. As they grew topics started to slowly changed as they were effected by everything going on in their life by the people, situations, and with society as whole. So, that's what they sing about. They sing about what they know, how they feel, and what they think. They are an awesome band. They have stuck together way longer than most bands have. Its the music that they make together that keeps them together. Its bigger than any one person. Its about Green Day's music. I have been a huge fan of Green Day since a high school friend of mine played me the vinyl of 39 Smooth, finally music That I could understand that understood me. The next day after school I immediately went the store but I couldn't find it in any stores in Georgia. So the next day I asked my friend why and he explained he got it from the times he saw them live in California, from when he had lived there. He said they were independent and I wouldn't find them in the stores around here. I had him make me a few tapes. I am so grateful Green Day did sign to a major label because my tapes were about worn out from constant playing. Now I could go to the store and buy their records and cassettes. Green Day is awesome and they have always been and always will be Punk!
dawn.wilcox1 , about 1 year agoI REALLY dont understand why like...70 to 80 % of all Green Day fans think American Idiot and on has been shitty. If Rage Against The Machine is one of the most beloved performances in the history of this festival and they are mostly younger fans that love them and they SPECIALIZE in giving politics the middle finger, if Green Day has the same attitude AND QUALITY, I would FUCKING HOPE you people would give their concert a chance. EVERYBODY SINCE WHEN is Political spitfire NOT cool, it scares cops and politicians. ehhh i dont get it, Green Day clearly still makes punk songs (Jesus Of Suburbia, St. Jimmy, East Jesus Nowhere, The Static Age, etc), its just become ARENA punk rock. like its SUCH a big deal that theyve progressed, continue to make likable punk songs, but have gotten older, politically upset and more sophisticated with their material. theyve gone from Be Their Own Pet-esque to like Rage Against The Machine-esque. LASTLY, I dont consider myself the BIGGEST fan but i like them, and have seen them live and am SOMEWHAT a fan. However, I really wish BJ Armstrong was like Liam Gallagher and just shit all over his fans for his own amusement, because you people SUCK as fans. seeya in August you overly critical faggots that call yourself "fans"
dirknowitzzzzzzz41 , about 1 year agoi cant believe the shit talk i read here!!! Geeeezzzz learn to enjoy yourself! This is why Green Day totally represents you>>>>idiots who always have some kind of shit to spill!! I love Green Day! Total shit spillers!!!!
