Phoenix, Ariz. native Charlie Brand hooked up with drummer Rick Shaier online, and they
liked one another’s music so much, Brand headed west. Miniature Tigers,
which also contains guitarist Algernon Quashie and bassist Alex Gerber, were
lauded by Rolling Stone as one of the “25 best bands on Myspace” shortly
after getting their start in 2006, but it wasn’t until two years later that the
band released its first full-length, Tell It to the Volcano.
The band went on to promote the album by touring with heavyweights Ben Folds and Say Anything, to sold-out audiences. Together, they produce acoustically driven, atmospheric pop that recalls Weezer, Phil Spector, the Beach Boys and even some Cars influences. With playful and good-natured tunes under their belts, the band awaits the release of its follow-up, Fortress, set for later this summer.
