Singer-guitarist Eric Rachmany, keyboardist Rory Carey, drummer
Wesley Finley and bassist Marley D. Williams banded together as Rebelution in 2004
after meeting in college in Santa Barbara, Calif. The first few years, they
toured locally and released a self-titled EP, harvesting a huge local fanbase.
With their 2007 breakout album, Courage to Grow, the local secret leaked. The band got radio play in San Francisco, San Diego and L.A. Rebelution’s socially conscious lyrics, grounded in reggae, and DIY approach endear them to fans; they further followed the DIY path by releasing their second album, 2009’s Bright Side of Life, on their own record label, 87 Music.
