Johnny Marr might not be a Jarman brother by blood, but his adoption into UK band the Cribs has made him a part of the family. The ex-Smiths guitarist met Ryan, Gary and Ross Jarman back in 2006, and is featured on the band’s newest album, Ignore the Ignorant.
The Jarmans have been playing together since 2002, and put out three previous albums, including 2007’s bitingly political Men’s Needs Women’s Needs Whatever. It included a collaboration with Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo on “Be Safe,” a spoken-word piece that bubbles and spits. Ignore the Ignorant expands on their punk-rock vibe; its first single, “Cheat On Me,” fiercely dares the listener to follow the title’s suggestion.
