Berkeley quartet the Morning Benders met while working together on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride at the original Disney Land in Anaheim. Though the ride closed, the fun never stopped—they turned to creating indie pop-rock.
Their second full-length album, 2010’s Big Echo, recalls the Beach Boys’ harmonies and warm chord progressions, with orchestral, atmospheric melodies, though they are no longer California residents—they now live in Brooklyn.
The Morning Benders have toured with the Kooks and Grizzly Bear, and the latter’s Chris Taylor co-produced Big Echo.

To be obliged to beg our daily happiness from others bespeaks a more lamentable poverty than that of him who begs his daily bread.
