Wild Beasts began as a duo under the name Fauve (the French
equivalent of “wild beasts” and the name of a 20th-century French art
movement). Yet founders Benny Little (guitar/keys) and Hayden Thorpe
(vocals/guitar) are from Kendal, England. With the addition of Tom Fleming
(bass/vocals) and Chris “Bert” Talbot (drums/vocals), the group has matured
into a richly creative pop-rock outfit.
Songs like “All the King’s Men” and “This Is Our Lot,” which BBC proclaimed “will be their end of set anthem moment for a good few years yet,” make the band’s sophomore effort, Two Dancers, a must-hear. Thorpe’s incomparable falsetto and the foursome’s blend of indie, art-rock and mid 20th-century pop are at once stunning and memorable.
